Our Mountain Chalet

2007 was a very busy year for James. He works so hard for our family and doesn't take time to relax very often. So as a surprise, I booked a cabin in the Ouachita Mountains in Watson, Oklahoma. James and I were able to get away for a few days to a lovely place called Rivers Edge Cottages. Rivers Edge was referred to me by the counselor at Ridge. She said it was lovely and so close to home. It was only a 6 and 1/2 hour drive from Lafayette but it seemed like we were far away into the mountains. It was a really wonderful escape. We had the fire roaring the entire time we were there!

For James and me, this was like a second honeymoon. No TVs, no phones, no internet, no distractions or stress from work or life. We were able to really reconnect and relax here. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who needs to get away and do some mate-dating with your spouse. It's run by a lovely Christian family who live right on the property. It's very affordable too, which is a plus. And for those of you wondering, NO... we did NOT bring Hannah. Hallelujer! It was our first big vacation away from her. We missed her more than she missed us. :)
